Today in History: Casablanca
On November 26, 1942, in the middle of World War II and as Allied forces were retaking North Africa, the film Casablanca was premiered 65 years ago. It was then officially released on January 23, 1943, to coincide with the Casablanca Conference.
The film stared Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine, Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund, Paul Henreid as Victor Laszlo, and Claude Rains as Captain Renault. Casablanca eventually went on to win Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture at the 1944 Oscars. And for the record, Rick never says, "Play it again, Sam." Instead, he says, "You played it for her, you can play it for me. Play it!".

Humphrey Bogart, Dooley Wilson, and Sydney Greenstreet
